At the height of stay-home orders, gaming sensation Animal Crossing was having a moment (as in, searched for more often than “sex” on Google). To help Taco Time meet this moment, we surprised fans by launching an entire fashion line within the game, giving players the chance to wear everything from branded Taco Time tanks, to nacho sundresses, to beanies dipped in their favorite sauces.
What began as a small investment and a hunch backed by data, quickly turned into Taco Time’s most successful social post to date. Our announcement reached 252,746 people, garnering 5,644 reactions, 1,695 comments, and 783 shares along the way. On top of all of that, the Lookbook announcement increased Taco Time page likes by 278%.
