Department – Communication Strategy & Media Planning

As Media Planner, you’ll be part psychologist, part data scientist, and part artist. You’ll strategize how brands should communicate with people across the landscape of media channels, then planning and implementing integrated media recommendations. We are passionate about emerging technologies and the evolving media landscape. As a team we are always asking “why?”, we strive to create plans for clients that help surpass their expected goals and are different from every other brand.


What any given day may involve

The candidate will be expected to take ownership of the day-to-day communications planning projects and deliver high quality media execution. They will help manage the client relationship and must be able to provide excellent time management and be highly accurate and responsive. A key part of the role will be to collaborate with the agency teams (creative, account management, production). We expect the candidate to be passionate and proactive in all aspects of their respective responsibilities.

  • Establish communication strategies for clients, including development of budget allocations across media
  • Gather and analyze appropriate research to provide sound, strategic, consumer-insights driven communication strategies and media recommendations
  • Collaborate with agency teams and client to establish media objectives and define success metrics bespoke to campaign goals
  • Seek out creative communications solutions for clients’ business challenges
  • Be at the forefront in understanding media trends and bringing in first-to-market opportunities with all media partners
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with publishers and vendors
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of both offline and online media channels
  • Setup campaigns through various advertising platforms
  • Build and manage direct response digital media plans and budgets
  • Track digital campaigns to ensure proper pacing; recommend plan optimizations (i.e. placements, partners, budget reallocations)
  • Utilize tracking and analytic tools to provide comprehensive reporting that details the effectiveness of each campaign

Tools you should know

  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Proficient with programmatic and bid-model technologies including trafficking and tagging (e.g. DoubleClick Bid Manager and Campaign Manager, Facebook, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of broadcast buying processes and platforms (e.g. MarketMate, Strata)
  • Knowledge of and experience with online research tools (e.g. Simmons, Scarborough/MRI, Nielsen, ComScore, etc.)
  • Media billing software (e.g. SBMS/Strata, DDS, Prisma)
  • Experience with Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager and/or AdWords is a plus

What you’ve already accomplished

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably with a concentration in marketing, advertising, communications, or business administration

  • Minimum 2+ years of integrated media planning and buying experience
  • Ability to be detail-oriented, able to multi-task, and work well under tight deadlines, in a fast-paced environment
  • Thirst for innovation, advancement, and taking calculated risks
  • Self-starter capable of working both autonomously and collaboratively
  • Excellent analytical and math skills, comfortable working with budgets
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
